1931 Cadillac V12 Roadster

$205,000

Continually innovating and producing designs that, without fault, exhibited timeless elegance and styling individuality, Cadillac achieved in 1931 the pinnacle of automotive styling and it was the “Standard of the World.”  At this year, Cadillac, the American luxury automaker, introduced a new V-12 series to fill the gap between its existing V-8 and V-16 models, and this proved the beginning of Cadillac’s domination of the luxury car segment.

The engines in the V-12 and V-16 shared parts, as well as dimensions and angles, so production didn’t have to proceed from scratch. From its 368 cubic inches, Cadillac’s new V-12 produced 135 horsepower and 285 pound-feet of torque, enabling a top speed of 80 mph. The Twelve was nearly the performance equal of the Sixteen, offering strong torque and a similar top speed. Despite tough economic times, the V-12 sold surprisingly well, though at the expense of the larger and pricier V-16. A V-12 Roadster piloted by Cadillac test chief Willard Radar even paced the 1931 Indianapolis 500.

This exceptional Series 370-A V-12 Roadster is one of approximately 7 surviving examples of this beautiful and sporting Fleetwood body style. This vehicle was one of the last vehicles bodied by Fleetwood in their PA factory prior to moving the entire Fleetwood works to Detroit.

Originally shipped to Don Lee Cadillac, Inc., in San Francisco on October 29, 1931, this classic was restored over a period of 3 years by a prominent local restorer and presents in remarkable condition, having been diligently cared for since its restoration.

Attesting to its condition and authenticity, the car was awarded with the Grand National Winner by AACA, Senior award by Cadillac Lasalle Club, and Premier Senior—First Prize Winner by CCCA, also displayed in several events, including Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, The Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance, Radnor Hunt Concours d’Elegance, and Hilton Head Island, wining many Best Class awards.

The paint, Dark Taupe/Graphite Gray, and finish are excellent, with hardly any blemishes. The chrome is also exquisitely done with show-worthy plating on the radiator grille, bumpers, and other trims. The interior of this vehicle is finished luxuriously, matching with the exterior paint and Graphite Gray-colored leather to a showroom quality level. The Tan canvas roadster top is expertly fitted. The cockpit is exquisite with the dash finished in a sublime stainless-steel finish.

To add an extra touch of class, this Cadillac is equipped with many period accessories, including back luggage; dual, fender-mounted spares with exterior rear mirrors decorated with Cadillac logo; chrome steel center-lock wheels with stainless-steel spokes and polished Cadillac hubs; impressive pilot-ray driving lights; and the iconic Goddess radiator mascot.
