Volkswagen Karmann Ghia Coupe

Year: 1966|Miles: 21,571|Ext: Sea Sand Beige|Int: Black |

RB Collection proudly offers this incredible, highly original, unrestored 1966 Karmann Ghia Coupe. This handsome little Ghia has just 21,000 original miles and is a local car with single family ownership and only three stewards from new. The original owner kept the car from 1966 through 1986 when he passed it to his son who showed the car extensively, eventually handing it to another family member in 2015. From there, it was kept under a cover and in a bubble, in a climate controlled garage and used very little. Extensive receipts and records go back to the original invoice from J. Bertolet Volkswagen in Orwigsburg, PA, as well as title assignments verifying the low ownership and single family stewardship.

Over the years, this wondrful Karmann-Ghia was shown extensively, racking up a pile of trophies and awards including a coveted AACA Senior National First Prize in 2006. It remains in very correct and unrestored condition and is one of the finest Karmann-Ghias we’ve had the pleasure to offer. The bodywork is very straight with excellent, factory correct gaps and panel fit. The body is straight and free of filler, accident damage or rust repair. The mostly-original paint is gloosy and attractive, though some fading and care-wear is evident in places upon close inspection. We believe some light paintwork has been done to correct care worn areas. The body shell remains totally original, and floor pans are amazingly straight and clean with no corrosion to be found. The original chrome is in excellent order, showing no dings or pitting on the bumpers and overriders. Delicate alloy body moldings are also excellent, and the car retains the correct original Hella headlight rims.

Inside, the basic black vinyl trim is flawless, as is the original headlining and dash. It retains the original steering wheel and shift know and a genunie accessory tissue box is fitted below the dash. Cocomats protect the original carpets and rubber floor mats. The original engine is in keeping with the rest of the car – incredibly clean, original and wearing factory correct markings. Records show regular maintenance was performed throughout its history, and all major components remain original.

On the road is where this Ghia truly shines. You can feel this is a genuine 20,000 mile car in the way it remains tight and crisp. The engine runs beautifully and exhibits no signs of smoke, leaks or clunks. The suspension and steering feel planted and tight and the car rides wonderfully. It is a joy to drive and it looks just fantastic in the original Sea Sand beige paint. This is a very rare opporutnity to acquire a desirable 1966 Karmann Ghia with a fully documented history and single-family ownership.
