Chevrolet Corvette

Year: 1961|Miles: 42,614|Ext: Fawn Beige|Int: Fawn Beige|

The Chevrolet Corvette, produced from 1957-1962, was the first generation of this iconic American sports car. GM designer Harley Earl loved sports cars. GIs returning from WWII were bringing home MGs, Jaguars, Alfa Romeos and the like. Earl was paying attention to the market trends, and successfully convinced GM that they needed to build a 2-seat sports car. The hand built pre-production Corvette prototype debuted in January 1953. This was followed by yearly refinements and improvements, which by 1960 made the Corvette one of the most beautiful, desirable American cars on the market. The 1961 Corvette has a cleaner look than its predecessors that was much appreciated by its buyers and fans. 1961 was the last year it was available with body side coves in a contrasting color. The rear was completely redesigned to include the 4 tail lights that we now expect on a Corvette. This mated nicely with the existing 4 lamp front. ?Even the exterior?s build quality was improved, as the car?s fit-and-finish for 1961 was the best yet. Testers sang the praises of the 61?s handling virtues. By the standards of the day, this Corvette was now one of the most noteworthy cars in the world. This stunning, 3 owner, 1961 Corvette is a 2006 AACA Senior Grand National Winner.
