Porsche 911 SC Targa

Year: 1981|Miles: 68,100|Ext: Silver |Int: Oyster/Black|

In the early 1980?s, the 911 was soldiering on as Porsche?s flagship in spite of the factory?s best efforts to replace it. Introduced in 1965, and in the 3rd iteration, the 911 was supposed to be replaced by the 928 in the late 70?s. But customers cried foul at the mere suggestion that the 911 might be killed off. Thankfully, the bosses in Stuttgart listened and spared the 911, giving it a new lease on life with the introduction of the SC in 1978.

The 911 SC used the previous Carrera?s 3.0 liter engine, but now with Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection and a 5-speed type 915 transmission. The SC produced about 180 horsepower, giving strong performance in the lightweight 911. Traditional Porsche Coupe and Targa body styles were offered, and in 1981 the full cabriolet was added to the lineup, a first for Porsche since the 356 SC. The 911 SC proved very popular and sold well, further solidifying the future of the 911 and paving the way for today?s world-beating 911 supercars.
