RB Collection offers this beautiful, low mileage 1964 Ford Fairlane 500 Hardtop; loaded from new with a host of desirable factory options including the rare 289/195hp V8, air conditioned, and Cruise-O-Matic transmission. This outstanding Fairlane 500 was sold new at J.J. Conroy Ford in Doylestown, Pennsylvania and presents today in unrestored and amazingly original condition throughout. The bodywork is straight and crisp, finished in Skylight Blue. The paint is attractive and consistent overall, and while it is mostly original, some high-quality touchups have been made in places. Exterior trim and brightwork is all in outstanding original order, beautifully preserved and remarkably straight. The body is fitted with factory original fender skirts, and the full array of Fairlane 500 trim. Original wheels are fitted with factory optional wire wheel covers, which are all in fine condition.

The interior, still presenting some of the new-car scent, is incredibly well-preserved in its original light blue upholstery – a mix of vinyl with fabric inserts on the bench seats, with complementing two-tone door panels and correct, factory original blue loop carpeting. The upholstery is in outstanding original condition and reflective of the careful use this car has received since new. Original gauges are excellent, and the odometer shows just 69,500 miles from new. Options include padded dash and sunvisors, AM pushbutton radio, courtesy lights and 2-speed wipers with washer. This car is also equipped with factory SelectAire air conditioning, which, at $360, was a tremendously expensive option that was rarely selected on the mid-priced Fairlane and works perfectly today.

Detailing of the original Challenger 289 engine is tidy, as well the chassis and undercarriage, both showing a high level of originality. It runs and drives exceptionally well, and benefits from original power steering and power brakes. This Fairlane is a delight to drive, with that distinctly solid feeling of a car that has never been taken apart. This is one of the best examples of a Fairlane we have had the pleasure to offer and likely one of the nicest unrestored cars available. It is an AACA award winner and is ready to be enjoyed: on the road or on the show field. Starting in the 1962 model year, Ford moved the Fairlane nameplate from the full-size Galaxie line down to become the new mid-size leader, poised to take on the new smaller cars from Pontiac, Oldsmobile and Dodge. Ford offered the Fairlane in a wide variety of body styles ranging from a humble four-door sedan to a stylish convertible, with countless options available to buyers. Up to this point, Ford’s primary V8 engine was the heavy Y-block 292, but with the Fairlane came the all new Windsor V8, specially designed with thin-wall castings to keep it lightweight and compact. In 260 and 289 form, it would power the whole range of Ford passenger cars and sportscars throughout the decade. The Fairlane remains a popular choice among Blue Oval fans.
